With the publication of the 2013 Journal Citation Reports (Thomson Reuters), we are delighted to announce Biotechnology for Biofuels’ rise in Impact Factor to 6.22. We proudly maintain our position as the highest impact journal that fully focuses upon biofuels research. Biotechnology for Biofuels now ranks 5/82 in the ‘Energy & Fuel’ category and 14/165 in the ‘Biotechnology & Applied Microbiology’ category of the Journal Citation Report. While Impact Factors are just one way of measuring impact, this strong performance is indicative of the quality and visibility of the research published in the journal.
Biotechnology for Biofuels launched seven years ago, filling a vacant niche as the first open-access journal dedicated to biofuels research. Since then, we have grown tremendously (see graph), publishing top quality research on a broad range of topics. Overseen by the Editors-in-Chief, Michael Himmel, James du Preez, Debra Mohnen and Charles Wyman, Biotechnology for Biofuels is supported by an expert panel of Associate Editors, who are responsible for peer-review and editorial decision making for the journal.
We would like to thank the Editorial Board, reviewers and our authors for the support and commitment which has made this success possible. We look forward to building on this success over the coming years, and continuing to serve the biofuels research community.
