We are delighted to announce the upcoming launch of BMC Methods, the latest addition to the BMC Series journal family.
Set to launch in Autumn 2023, BMC Methods will be the first Springer Nature open access, peer reviewed journal that will focus on providing updates in methods and lab protocols across various scientific disciplines including biology, chemistry, physics, computational and biomedical sciences. In line with BMC’s ethos the journal will champion open science, supported by transparent peer review and open data policies.
In a world where innovation and transparency are paramount, BMC Methods will serve as a valuable resource for researchers who seek to enhance their experimental techniques, improve study reproducibility, and stay informed about the latest advancements in methodology.
At BMC Methods our mission is clear: to facilitate the dissemination of experimental procedures, novel techniques, and innovative methodologies in the natural sciences field to elevate the quality and rigour of scientific research.
The journal welcomes submissions of both lab protocols and methodology articles. We particularly welcome lab protocols that have a strong emphasis on providing comprehensive explanations for each step. We’re very happy to receive submissions with links to protocols.io or from pre-print servers. Our goal is to empower fellow researchers to replicate and build upon your work. As with other BMC Series journals, BMC Methods does not make editorial decisions on the basis of the interest of a study or its likely impact. However, submissions to BMC Methods should directly address questions within their respective disciplines as we want to publish methods that contribute to meaningful scientific advancements. Authors are encouraged to demonstrate their method’s performance compared to existing approaches to allow the scientific community to gauge the true impact and advantages of the work. We are open to manuscripts that explore the theoretical foundations of methods and propose enhancements or optimizations.
Join us on this exciting journey!
BMC Methods aspires to be more than just a journal; our goal is to build a community of scientists dedicated to advancing the scientific method. Efforts are now underway to recruit an international Editorial Board with broad and diverse expertise. We invite you to join us in this exciting journey towards greater transparency, reproducibility, and the relentless pursuit of knowledge.
