Uruguayan and Indian researchers triumph in inaugural BioMed Central Research Awards

So, the results are out….

The winners, chosen by independent expert panels on the basis of scientific merit, could hardly better demonstrate the global reach of open access. The author of the winning biology article is based in Uruguay, while the winning medical article came from India.

The only downside of this geographical spread is that it made it a little impractical for the winning authors to collect their awards in person at last week’s ceremony at the Royal College of Physicians in London. Still, the elegant, slightly 2001-esque glass monoliths and $5000 cheques are now on their way to the proud winners.

All that remains is to get planning for the 2007 awards… If you want to have a chance to be considered, all you need to do is submit some research to one of our journals…
