Celebrating Peer Review Week at BMC: How Peer Review can help uphold research integrity
The past few years have highlighted the importance of scientific research and communication as researchers from multiple disciplines came together to fight SARS-CoV-2. However, trust in research has also suffered as a number of high profile retractions of Covid-19 research have featured in the mainstream media. This, against a backdrop of increasing retractions in scientific publishing, confirms the central role of structures to uphold research integrity to safeguard trust in science. In recognition of this, the theme for this year’s Peer Review Week is “Research Integrity: Creating and supporting trust in research”.
