There has been an explosion in research in systems biology over the past 5 years, and we recognized that there was a need for an open access journal spanning all of systems biology from molecules all the way up to ecosystems.
The first articles in BMC Systems Biology were published in January and since then we have seen a steady growth in submissions, placing BMC Systems Biology well into the top third of the journals published by BioMed Central.
We’ve recruited an enthusiastic international editorial board, published the first of several upcoming commentary articles and we’re about to attend a conference dedicated to systems biology, the ICSB in Long Beach, California, at the start of October. We’re confident that the journal will soon by tracked by Thomson Scientific to receive an Impact Factor.
