In this latest podcast from the BMC Medicine “Backstory” series, we talk with global mental health experts Retha Arjadi and Vikram Patel about recent research on scaling up digital delivery of mental health treatment for depression in low and middle-income countries (LMICs). As the rates of depression and burden of mental health disorders continue to grow across the globe, scaling up delivery using low-cost digital delivery platforms could help bridge the mental health treatment gap in resource-limited settings.

Dustin completed his PhD in Neuroscience at Brown University studying phototransduction in melanopsin ganglion cells, before doing post-doctoral research in systems neuroscience at University of Virginia and Stony Brook University studying taste coding and behavior in mice. He joined Springer Nature as an editor of Lab Animal in 2015, then moved to BMC Medicine in 2018. His interests are in mental health, infectious diseases, health policy, and social medicine. He is based in the New York office.
