Lael Barlow

Lael D. Barlow earned a BSc in Cell Biology at the University of Alberta and is now a PhD Candidate in Dr. Joel B. Dack’s laboratory at the University of Alberta, Department of Cell Biology. His research focuses on understanding the evolution of the eukaryotic endomembrane compartments, primarily using comparative genomics and phylogenetic analysis of their protein components. This includes published work on vesicle formation proteins, such as adaptins, and membrane fusion proteins including SNAREs. Lael is funded by a National Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada PGS-D scholarship.
