Environmental science is at the forefront of modern day science and policy. It is a global issue which is applicable to multiple aspects of everyday life, including climate change, sustainability and resource management, agriculture, health and the economy. The interdisciplinary nature of this field requires international collaboration on research and data sharing, and an accessible publishing environment to make this research and data accessible to those who need it.
BioMed Central and SpringerOpen have pioneered the open access publishing model, collectively making academic research and data, both within science and social science, freely and widely accessible for over 15 years. During that time they have built up an array of interdisciplinary journals in environmental sciences, which continue to push the boundaries of single subject science and provide integrative and complete solutions to some of the key environmental problems that face modern society.

Annals of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (AOEM) is aimed at clinicians and researchers working in the wide-ranging discipline of occupational and environmental medicine. Topic areas focus on, but are not limited to, interactions between work and health, covering occupational and environmental epidemiology, toxicology, hygiene, diagnosis and treatment of diseases, management, organization and policy. AOEM considers contributions in the form of original articles, review articles, short letters and case reports.
As the official journal of the Korean Society of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (KSOEM), members and authors based in the Republic of Korea are entitled to a discounted article-processing charge.

Carbon Balance and Management
Carbon Balance and Management is dedicated to disseminating original research related to the understanding of the global carbon cycle, as well as methodologies for its measurement and analysis and reviews of topics within the field. This includes studies of spatial and temporal distributions of carbon pools and fluxes, control and feedback mechanisms of the carbon-climate system and points of intervention for managing the carbon-climate-human system. The journal supports the work of the Intergovernmental Panel for Climate Change (IPCC) by providing governmental and non-governmental organizations with instantaneous access to contemporary knowledge, including paradigm shifts and consensual views.

City, Territory and Architecture
City, Territory and Architecture opens an interdisciplinary debate on the relational nature of projects for spaces where people settle and interrelate. The journal shares theoretical and applied scientific knowledge and positions with primary goal of exploring conceptual and physical relations between city, territory and architecture. The central theme of the journal is the adaptation to new urban situations: new forms of inhabiting space are arising in the contemporary city; both human settlement and project development and implementation are characterized by a stronger awareness of and care for the entire territory, as well as an awareness of environmental values.
