Esther Clarke gained her PhD from the Centre for Social Learning and Cultural Evolution at St Andrews University where she studied wild white-handed gibbons in Thailand. She is now a Junior Research Fellow in the Department of Anthropology at Durham University, studying captive gibbon vocalisations and reproductive endocrinology.
