I am an immune-geneticist whose major focus of research has been on the genetic and environmental factors contributing to the onset, progression, severity and co-morbidities of autoimmune diseases and common chronic conditions with an inflammatory component, both humans and companion animal species. Regulation of immune response at a level of self-tolerance and also the homeostatic control mechanisms following an immune response to non-self are fundamental to understanding the aetiology and pathogenesis of an even wider range of diseases.
