Georgette is a BBSRC Future Leader Fellow at the University of Liverpool's Veterinary School. She's an entomologist and epidemiologist interested in Culicoides biting midges, important biological vectors of livestock viruses in Europe, as well as being biting nuisances of humans. Georgette's current research aims to determine the effect of parasitic nematodes on the life history characteristics, vector competence and survival of Culicoides in the UK, thereby assessing their potential as agents of biological control (or the opposite!).
