In a recent study by Mtuy et al 2021, researchers assessed the use of Photovoice as a community engagement tool by putting Maasai women on the other side of the camera, giving them control of photography and empowering them as ambassadors of health promotion in their communities.

Bubonic plague is considered by many as a disease from the past, a dark age scourge which took millions of lives during major pandemics. Although devastating plague pandemics disappeared from the world, this disease persists in a few countries, taking hundreds of lives every year, with most cases declared in Madagascar.
Back in 2018, I attended the 5th International One Health Congress, hosted by the One Health Platform. For me, it was an eye opener in terms of seeing the scope of the ‘One Health’ concept and the challenges and obstacles to truly putting the ‘One Health’ approach into practice. The One Health approach could provide long lasting solutions to planetary health issues, however, the interdisciplinary collaboration that would be needed is not easy. Here, I discuss some ways that journals can promote collaboration.
