Martin Stegner

Martin Stegner is an expert in arthropod neuroanatomy and evolutionary biology, focusing on the various morphological transformations that have occurred during the evolution of crustaceans. After studying Zoology, Ecology, and Genetics in Gießen and Jena, he obtained his doctoral degree at the University of Rostock where he investigated the enigmatic group of horseshoe shrimp (Cephalocarida), the complex nervous system of which he could—in many respects—trace back to the ancestor of all crustaceans.
