Practical Action: a repository for the developing world

Open Repository is delighted to announce an agreement with the Practical Action Group to build and host their institutional repository.  Practical Action is a large international non-governmental organisation (NGO) that uses technology to challenge poverty in developing countries. Open Repository will be working with Practical Action Publishing to implement a large & expanding repository storing  books, journal articles and metadata.  The repository, launching in the middle of 2014, will be harvested by multiple content management systems in order to serve Practical Action’s worldwide stable of websites.

Practical Action joins Open Repository clients such as Oxfam iLibrary and Médecins Sans Frontières operating in the international charitable and NGO sectors.

Open Repository builds, hosts and customises enhanced, DSpace repositories for institutions worldwide, enabling the institution to focus on managing and developing content within their repository. Through Open Repository and Open Repository Lite, clients can choose a package to suit their needs. Open Repository offers clients the full services required to successfully run a repository, while Open Repository Lite offers is aimed at small clients & those from emerging or developing countries, requiring a simple install at a cost effective price.  Open Repository is a DuraSpace Registered Service Provider and is offered by BioMed Central, the Open Access specialist.
