A novice’s experience of field parasitology
In this blog, Ripudaman K Bains reflects on her personal experience of life as a field malariologist.
Ripudaman Bains
Ripu graduated with a Bachelors in Genetics from University College London in 2007. Following this she completed a Masters in Medical Parasitology and a Diploma in Infectious Diseases at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, which included a stint working on malaria at the Research Institute of Tropical Medicine in Muntinlupa City, the Philippines. In 2012, she completed a PhD in Human Genetics at University College London, focusing on diversity in sub-Saharan Africa.
Ripu joined BioMed Central in August 2013 initially as an Editor for Genome Medicine; she joined Genome Biology in January 2014 where she is currently Senior Editor.
