Federico Rojas is a Research Associate at Keith Matthews' group at the University of Edinburgh, UK. He studies Trypanosoma brucei differentiation, focusing on quorum sensing signalling. He completed his PhD at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, studying the trypanosome cell cycle and ubiquitination machinery. He also actively participated in an international consortium building the “Silicon Trypanosome”, where systems biology, metabolomics, RNA stability and cell signalling were integrated.
Keith Matthews carried out his PhD at the University of Glasgow and postdoctoral research at Yale University, USA, studying trypanosome RNA processing. He began work on trypanosome differentiation at the University of Manchester before moving to Edinburgh in 2004.He is currently Professor of Parasite Biology at the University of Edinburgh and a Wellcome Trust Investigator.
