Meike Shedden-Mora & Winfried Rief

Meike Shedden-Mora is a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy, University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf, Germany. Meike’s research focusses on the management of somatic symptom disorders and on interventions employing placebo mechanisms to improve medical treatments.

Winfried Rief is Professor of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy, Philipps University of Marburg, Germany. He is specialized in placebo- and nocebo effects, perception and coping with somatic symptoms, optimization of clinical studies and interventions. Guest professor at Harvard Medical School, Boston (2004/2005), University of Auckland Medical School (2002), and University of California San Diego (2009/2010). In 2014, he received the Distinguished Researchers award in Behavioral Medicine for his achievements in investigating psychological mechanisms of medical conditions.
