Dr Lisa McHugh is a NHMRC Emerging Leader and infectious diseases and perinatal epidemiologist from the School of Public Health at the University of Queensland, Australia. Lisa spent many years as a midwife before moving into pregnancy research and First Nations health research, and then completed a Master of Philosophy in Applied Epidemiology (MAE program) in 2015, followed by a PhD in maternal vaccination in 2019. Her current research program continues investigating the safety and effectiveness of recommended vaccines in pregnancy (influenza, pertussis and COVID-19), and evaluating the health and policy impact of Australia's funded maternal vaccination programs.
