Dr. Eric J. Arts is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Western University, London, Ontario.He also holds the Canada Research Chair in HIV Pathogenesis and Viral Control.His research focuses on HIV evolution and its impact on treatment, pathogenesis, and vaccine development.For the past twenty years Dr. Arts has been part of a large collaboration to investigate HIV treatment outcomes and drug resistance in Uganda together with his colleagues, Drs. Art Poon, Miguel Quinones-Mateu, Immaculate Nankya, Cissy Kityo, and all the authors on the recent paper published in Infectious Diseases of Poverty.
