Dr. James Giordano & Dr. John Shook

Dr. James Giordano is Professor of Neurology and Biochemistry, and Chief of the Neuroethics Studies Program of the Pellegrino Center for Clinical Bioethics at Georgetown University Medical Center, Washington DC. Dr. Giordano also serves as a Research Fellow of the Philosophy and Ethics Sub-Project (SP-12) of the European Union Human Brain Project.

His ongoing work focuses upon the mechanisms and treatment of neurodegenerative disorders, and the ethical, legal and social issues arising in and from emerging neuroscientific and neurotechnological research and its global applications in medicine, public life and military operations.

Dr. John Shook teaches philosophy at Bowie State University in Maryland, and he also teaches science education for the 'Science and the Public' online EdM program at the University of Buffalo, New York. Moral philosophy, philosophical psychology, and philosophy of science are his main research areas. Dr. Shook's work in neurophilosophy from the perspective of pragmatic naturalism inspires his contributions to collaborations with Dr. Giordano on neuroethics.
