Charles Chiu

Charles Chiu, M.D./Ph.D. is Associate Professor of Laboratory Medicine and Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases at University of California, San Francisco. Charles received his M.D. and Ph.D. in biophysics from UCLA and subsequently completed an internal medicine residency, infectious diseases fellowship, and postdoc at UCSF.His current research is focused on diagnostic assay development for infectious diseases, bioinformatics pipelines for analysis of next-generation sequencing data, and characterization of emerging pathogens, including Borrelia burgdorferi (the cause of Lyme disease), Ebola virus, and enterovirus D68.
