Professor Carmelo Scarpignato, MD, DSc, FRCP, FACP, FACG

Professor Carmelo Scarpignato is a clinical pharmacologist & gastroenterologist at the Department of Clinical & Experimental Medicine, University of Parma, Italy. He is currently the Secretary General of the World Organization for Specialized Studies on Diseases of the Esophagus (OESO) and the Governor for Italy of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG). His main research interests focus on digestive clinical pharmacology, gastrointestinal motility, and upper GI pathophysiology. He has published more than 200 peer-reviewed papers on these topics and has also edited several books on clinical evaluation of GI function and on Pharmacology & Therapeutics of Digestive Diseases.
