Chris Murray, co-Editor-in-Chief of Population Health Metrics, and
an expert in health evaluation has been appointed Director of the new Institute for Health Metrics
and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington. The IHME has been set up using a $105 million gift
from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, as well as funding from the
University of Washington. Its goal is to help guide international policymaking by providing
high-quality data and analysis on health needs and outcomes, and assessing the
performance of health programs.
