BMC Women's Health, BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth and BMC Medical Imaging are now indexed by MEDLINE

Three more BMC-series titles, BMC Women’s Health, BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth, and BMC Medical Imaging are now indexed by MEDLINE, which means that as well as being searchable in PubMed (like all BioMed Central articles), articles in these journals are also annotated by the National Library of Medicine’s professional indexing staff, and are included in a variety of additional database services that are based on MEDLINE. For a full list of MEDLINE-indexed journals from BioMed Central, see our journal indexing page.

We have also calculated updated unofficial Impact Factors* for BMC Women’s Health and BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth based on 2006 data. BMC Women’s Health has an unofficial 2006 Impact Factor of 1.44 and BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth’s unofficial 2006 Impact Factor is 1.56, in both cases significantly improving on the 2005 figures.

*Unofficial Impact Factors are calculated by BioMed Central using the same data and methodology that Thomson Scientific use for the official calculations. Unofficial 2006 Impact Factors for other BioMed Central journals which do not yet have official impact factors will be released by BioMed Central shortly.

BMC Medical Imaging has not yet published enough articles to allow an Impact Factor to be calculated, but is growing rapidly. A major benefit for authors publishing in BMC Medical Imaging is that, like all BioMed Central journals, it has no color figure charges and also provides excellent support for movies and 3-dimensional visualisations (example), which can be displayed within the context of the article.
