It was recently announced
that Kuan-Teh Jeang, Editor-in-Chief of Retrovirology, has been elected to
Academia Sinica, the preeminent
academic institution in Taiwan. Academia Sinica held its biennial Convocation of Academicians earlier this month,
culminating in the announcement of the 2008 list of Academicians. A total of 7
new Academicians were elected to the Division of Life Sciences including Prof
Jeang. This honour recognises Prof Jeang’s significant
contributions to HIV and retrovirus research.
Professor
Jeang launched Retrovirology
with BioMed Central in 2004, and the journal has quickly gained a strong
reputation in its field, receiving its first Impact Factor (4.04) last month.
The journal publishes articles on all aspects of basic retrovirus research, and
also runs its own journal blog, highlighting
important developments in the field.
