Sophie Nicod
Sophie was born and raised in Switzerland where she studied at the University of Lausanne and obtained a BSc in Biology before studying for an MSc in Genomic and Experimental Biology.During her studies she developed a passion for Gene Expression and Microbiology that brought her to Imperial College London where she investigated the agr operon of Staphylococcus aureus during her PhD. For her first Postdoc she stayed at Imperial College London and investigated the Host Takeover Module of the Bacillus subtilis SPO1 Bacteriophage before moving to the University of Sussex for her second postdoc working on Streptomyces coelicolor. She was then seduced by the idea of a career in publishing and joined the BMC series in April 2022. She is the editor for BMC Genomics and BMC Genomic Data.
