Mariana Leivas Müller Hoff & Andrej Fabrizius

Mariana Leivas Müller Hoff is a Brazilian biologist, who recently concluded the PhD studies entitled "Diving into the energy metabolism of the hooded seal brain: A comparative molecular study" at the University of Hamburg, Germany. During her PhD, she was awarded a scholarship from an international cooperation between the Brazilian Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

Andrej Fabrizius started his diploma studies in 2003 at the University of Bremen. He went on to the Johannes Gutenberg-University in Mainz and finished his diploma in 2009. He concluded his PhD thesis with the title "Analysis of the localization and expression of the respiratory protein Neuroglobin in Mammals” in the lab of Thomas Hankeln. Since 2014 he is a post-doc in the lab of Thorsten Burmester at the Institute of Zoology in Hamburg and focuses on the establishment of zebrafish knock-outs via the Crispr/Cas system and the analysis of molecular adaptations of diving mammals.
