Ralf B Schäfer (Landau) is a university professor of quantitative landscape ecology and conducts research on the responses of freshwater organisms and ecosystem functions to stressors, particularly chemicals, with a focus on larger spatial scales. He and his working group develop and use geospatial, ecological and statistical modelling techniques as well field studies and experiments to quantify and predict single and multiple stressor effects. His work has been funded by research councils, government agencies and water industry. He has published over 90 ISI-listed publications (h-index = 29), including papers in high- ranking multidisciplinary journals such as PNAS and Science.
