Professor Jean-Charles Fruchart is President of the Residual Risk Reduction Initiative or R3i (https://www.r3i.org/), and Professor, Pasteur Institute of Lille and University of Lille, France. His research was pivotal to understanding how fibrates act to influence lipids and atherosclerosis, the process underpinning cardiovascular events such as heart attacks and strokes. This provided a foundation for him to develop the SPPARMα concept – and its evolution to the PROMINENT clinical trial.
