Irish Health Research Seminar: Collaboration and Partnership for Progress

Health Services Executive, IrelandThe Health Services in Ireland deliver thousands of different health and social services in hospitals and communities across the country, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. In November they ran a well attended one day seminar at the Health Services Executive (HSE)  Dr. Steevens’ Hospital, Dublin, to explore research taking place in the Irish health sector. It also included presentations from practitioners, policy makers and librarians.

The aims of the seminar were to:

  • Raise awareness of research in health that takes place outside of the academic setting.
  • Foster collaboration between the academic and broader health sector.
  • Promote existing Irish health research.
  • Profile the role of librarians in facilitating and supporting researchers.

Back in 2008, the HSE partnered with Open Repository for their repository, Lenus.  As a consortia repository for the HSE, it incorporates the Health Boards and submitting authors within Ireland.

If you would like to find out more about how Open Repository works in partnership with the HSE and many other clients for their green open access needs, please do not hesitate to get in touch. You can also read a case study on the launch of their repository.
