Laura Zielinski & Dr. Zainab Samaan

Laura Zielinski holds an MSc in neuroscience from McMaster University in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences. Her research focused on the effects of cannabis use in patients on methadone maintenance treatment. She currently works as Research Coordinator at Canadian Cannabis Clinics.

Dr. Samaan MBChB, MRCPsych (UK), MSc, PhD is a Staff Psychiatrist and Associate Professor at the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioural Neurosciences, McMaster University and St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. Dr. Samaan’s research expertise is in the field of genetic and environmental determinants of addiction. She holds a faculty appointment at the Peter Boris Centre for Addiction Research, St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. She is an expert on research methods and knowledge synthesis and holds Associate Membership with the Department of Health Research Methods, Evidence and Impact, McMaster University. Dr. Samaan is an active researcher and educator, and has over 70 peer-reviewed publications with a major focus on opioid addiction and the interphase of medical comorbidities related to addiction, depression and suicide.
