Kidney Cancer Awareness Month: Highlighting our open access kidney cancer research

To mark Kidney Cancer Awareness month and to help raise awareness of kidney cancer, our Editors across a number of open access oncology journals have developed a collection of articles to showcase some of the latest research in the field.

March marks the beginning of Kidney Cancer Awareness Month, and today is World Kidney Day. In recognition of these, we are proud to present some of our kidney cancer research that has published within the open access oncology journal portfolio.

Kidney cancer, also referred to as renal cancer, is a global health problem currently ranked the 14th most common cancer worldwide. The prevalence of kidney cancer varies according to geographic location and the U.S. and the UK fall within the Top 20 countries with the highest incidence of kidney cancer in 2018. Kidney cancer incidence also differs according to sex, and the disease is more common in men than women.

As a global health issue, continued research on kidney cancer is of paramount significance with particular reference to risk assessment and diagnostics, precision medicine, therapeutics and epigenetics. The articles in this collection have been curated by our oncology journal Editors and include some of the latest research in the field in each of these categories.
