Following
the sad loss of eminent editor Prof
Barbara Starfield
, we would like to announce that Dr Efrat Shadmi from the University of Haifa and Professor Leiyu Shi from the Johns Hopkins University have been appointed as co-Editors-in-Chief of International
Journal for Equity in Health
.

Dr
Shadmi
is a Lecturer at the Cheryl Spencer Department of Nursing at the
University of Haifa, Israel and a health policy consultant to Israel’s largest
non-profit health care organization. Her research focuses on evaluating
equitable health care delivery and its outcomes, evaluation of organizational
mechanisms to reduce inequity in care and on methods to better understand the
distribution of morbidity between population groups.

Leiyu
Shi
is Professor of health policy and health services research at Johns
Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health, Department of Health
Policy and Management and is co-Director of Johns Hopkins Primary Care Policy
Center. Professor Shi’s research focuses on primary care, health disparities
and vulnerable populations. He has conducted extensive studies about the
association between primary care and health outcomes, particularly on the role
of primary care in mediating the adverse impact of income inequality on health
outcomes.

International
Journal for Equity in Health
aims to improve the understanding
of issues that influence the health of populations. The Journal received its first official Impact Factor this year, an impressive 1.306,
placing the journal 56th out of 114 journals in the Public, Environmental and

I
hope that you will join us in wishing Dr Shadmi and Professor Shi the
best of luck in their new roles.
