Pioneers in Infectious Agents and Cancer Meeting

On March 23 in occasion of the 80° birthday of Prof. Robert Gallo the Pioneers in Infectious Agents and Cancer Meeting will be held in Naples at the Conference Hall of the Royal Continental Hotel.

The 2017 Pioneers in Infectious Agents and Cancer Meeting, whose main objective is to celebrate scientists who contributed most to the field,  will be focused on the work and accomplishments of  Prof Gallo and his collaborators covering the major thematic areas in which his activities  were held over a >30-year period at the NIH in Bethesda before and subsequently at the Institute of Human Virology – IHV in Baltimore.

The Meeting will be articulated in the following  4 sessions: HTLV discovery; HIV identification; Pathogen-driven Opportunistic Cancers;  Preventive and Therapeutic Vaccines.

In the afternoon of March 22nd the Infectious Agents and Cancer Editorial Board Meeting will be held with the contribution of 15 members, who are participating to the event. Moreover a 2 hrs session will be dedicated to report and plan the coming initiatives of the Global Virus Network – GVN, Prof Gallo founded in 2011 with Prof William Hall and Prof Reinhard Kurth (* 30. November 1942 in Dresden; † 2. February 2014 in Berlin).

Dr Buonaguro is the Editor-in-Chief of Infectious Agents and Cancer. He is currently the Director of Molecular Biology and Viral Oncology Unit, in the Department of Experimental Oncology at the Natl Cancer Institute “Fondazione Pascale”, Naples - Italy.
