Each year, millions of people worldwide still suffer from malaria and several hundreds of thousands die. There are several malaria vaccine candidates that could offer protection to the young children who are most affected by the disease. Here we provide an update of the new and ongoing trials to evaluate these vaccines.

In the study of the dynamics of mosquito-borne viral diseases, an emphasis has been placed on projected effects of climate change on disease risk. By focusing only on climate, we should not ignore the other drivers of biodiversity change such as habitat destruction, water pollution and biodiversity loss.
