Connacht Ulster Alliance demonstrates value in a shared consortium repository for smaller institutions

Open Repository

James Evans, Product Manager Open Repository writes:

The Connacht Ulster Alliance launched their repository on Tuesday February 18th, attended by staff and the Presidents of the three Institutes in the CUA. The CUA is a strategic partnership formed by Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT), Letterkenny Institute of Technology (LYIT) and  Institute of Technology, Sligo (IT Sligo), with the aim of achieving Technological University status within the Republic of Ireland.

The CUA repository, running on Open Repository’s low cost hosted platform, demonstrates the value in running a shared consortium repository. Each of the institutions holds their content at separate community levels, using the DSpace hierarchy to add further collections to suit their individual requirements. They will make a high impact with their research output,  without the greater economic and resource burdens of running separate repositories.

Open Repository is delighted to gain another Irish repository, and the absolute ease of working with the CUA repository team. They join Lenus in the Irish Republic, and  The General Teaching Council of Northern Ireland (GTCNI) as valued clients.
