Monninkhof's research is directed towards physical activity, obesity and cancer risk. She is coordinator of the Sex Hormones And Physical Exercise (SHAPE) study. The SHAPE study examines the effects of a 1-year moderate intensity exercise programme on endogenous hormone levels in sedentary postmenopausal women.
