Dr. Alicia Christy & Carolyn Sufrin, MD, PhD

Dr. Alicia Christy is a veteran, and former Chairman of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. In 2016 Dr. Christy joined the Veterans Health Administration as Deputy Director, Reproductive Health. She supports the portfolio addressing Veterans reproductive health priorities across the life course. Dr. Christy is co-editor of Contraception and Reproductive Medicine.

Carolyn Sufrin, MD, PhD, is a medical anthropologist and Ob/Gyn at Johns Hopkins University. She has worked extensively on reproductive health issues affecting incarcerated women. Her work is situated at the intersection of reproductive justice, health care, and mass incarceration, which she examines in her recent book, Jailcare: Finding the Safety Net for Women Behind Bars.
